Yogi Adityanath Pays Tribute to Ram Vilas Paswan on Death Anniversary

On the occasion of Ram Vilas Paswan’s sixth death anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to the former Union Minister and founder of the Lok Janshakti Party. He highlighted the importance of this day, noting that it is observed as a national event in Bihar. The Chief Minister praised Paswan’s contributions to public life and his steadfast commitment to the principles he championed throughout his career.

Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude towards the Government of Bihar for the observance, stating, “Today marks the death anniversary of Ram Vilas Paswan, a voice that emerged 50 years ago. He lived his life true to his words, and while we mourn his absence, it is encouraging to see his son, Chirag Paswan, continuing his legacy.”

In a heartfelt message, Adityanath expressed the sentiment of the people of Uttar Pradesh, saying that the respect accorded to Paswan in Bihar would also be mirrored in Uttar Pradesh. He reiterated his tribute on behalf of the state, acknowledging Paswan’s enduring influence.

Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel also offered her respects to Paswan, mentioning the Lok Janshakti Party’s observance of the anniversary. She remarked on the significance of this day, affirming her attendance at an event organised by the party, following an invitation from its National President, Chirag Paswan.

Patel described Paswan as a significant advocate for social justice, dedicating his life to improving the circumstances of Dalits and marginalised communities. “His lifelong struggle for social equity and justice is a part of our shared legacy,” she stated, underlining the importance of honouring his memory.

Chirag Paswan also took the opportunity to remember his father, thanking Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel for her tribute in Lucknow. In a post shared on social media, he expressed his gratitude, stating, “I thank the Hon’ble Governor for this heartfelt sentiment and honour towards my father, Padma Bhushan Late Shri Ram Vilas Paswan.”

Ram Vilas Paswan’s political career began when he was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977 on a Janata Party ticket from Hajipur, Bihar. He served in various ministerial roles, most recently as the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in the Narendra Modi government. His contributions spanned multiple administrations, reflecting his enduring presence in Indian politics.
