Woman Gang-Raped in Empty Train, Loses Leg After Being Thrown Onto Tracks in Sonipat

A shocking incident has come to light from Haryana’s Sonipat. A 35-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a stationary train coach at Panipat railway station. In addition to the heinous act she was subsequently thrown onto railway tracks in Sonipat. This resulted in the loss of her one leg. The woman is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Missing Person Report Filed

According to reports, police initiated an investigation after receiving a missing person report about the woman. The complaint was filed on June 26 by her husband. He informed authorities that his wife had been untraceable since June 24. He also stated that this followed after a domestic dispute between the couple. He further claimed that she had left home on previous occasions but had always returned on her own.

The horrific incident came to light after eyewitnesses from near the Sonipat railway tracks revealed that they heard a woman crying. The locals rushed to her aid. Subsequently a crowd gathered around her. Witnesses and bystanders observed that her leg had been severed after getting caught in the railway track switch.

The incident was reported to the railway police by bystanders, leading to her being referred from Sonipat General Hospital to Rohtak PGI for further treatment.

Horrific Account of the Ordeal

Following the incident, the woman gave a statement to the police. The woman informed that she was at a nearby railway station when a man approached her. She stated that the man claimed to have been sent by her husband.

“She said he took her with him and boarded an empty bogie of a stationary train where he raped her. Later, two other men joined him and raped her,” senior police official, Shri Niwas, SHO of Quilla police station.

The traumatized woman further recounted that after the assault, she was taken to Sonipat, where the accused threw her onto the railway tracks. A passing train then ran over her, leading to the severe injury and loss of her leg.

Zero FIR Registered and Probe Underway

Meanwhile, the Police have registered a Zero FIR for gang-rape. The case has been forwarded it to the Panipat Government Railway Police (GRP) for further action. “We have registered a zero FIR for gangrape and forwarded it to the Panipat Government Railway Police (GRP) for further action,” Niwas said over phone

Inspector Rajesh, SHO of the Government Railway Police in Panipat, confirmed the receipt of the Zero FIR on Sunday evening and stated that further investigation is underway.

SIT Formed

In response to the gravity of the incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, with District Police and CIA teams actively probing the case. Panipat’s Superintendent of Police, Bhupender Singh, along with his crime unit and the Sonipat GRP police, visited the railway track where the woman was found. They conducted an inspection of the site, though the SP avoided media interaction during the visit.

Police teams are continuing their investigation, questioning local residents and shopkeepers, and examining CCTV footage from the vicinity in an effort to gather concrete evidence.
