Will AI Take Your Job? 5 roles most likely to affected

The CSR Journal Magazine

AI is not just a nightmare for many corporate employees, this has turned into reality, it is very much here and many studies have confirmed that some jobs are at high risk and more vulnerable than other sectors. Well, this doesn’t mean that people would become jobless overnight, but yes, should be aware that these jobs are at high risk.

These are the 5 jobs that can be affected by AI

1. Data entry and back-office processing jobs

Back-office work has been the backbone of the Indian workforce, from data entry, form processing, to invoice handling, there are many people employed for such jobs. But this is the kind of job that AI automation will be fast replacing. A new study by NASSCOM–BCG states that over 40% of India’s current workforce will have to reskill themselves in the next two years, as automation will take over clerical work. Another report by the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs listed data entry and clerical work as one of the jobs that is fast declining at global level.  If said simply, then if your job demands copy, past, sorting, then you have to rethink and reskill yourself.

2. Call Centre and customer support jobs at risk

Call Centre jobs have been considered as the easiest and most available jobs in India, however, with AI automation, this job is also at high risk. With voice assistants and AI chatbots, now AI automated assistants are able to handle all queries whether related to flight, or banking, with each passing day, it is venturing in all customer support sectors. According to a recent study by the McKinsey Global Institute, up to 30% of tasks of customer service have already been taken over by the current AI tools.

In India specifically, Gartner predicts that by 2026, over 75% of customer interactions will be handled by AI without human intervention. Human agents won’t disappear completely, but entry-level call centre jobs, the ones that employ millions, are shrinking fast.

3. Basic reporting job in journalism

This might seem a big risk, but not for original news reports, this is basically for digital publishing. AI has all features to create articles that are SEO friendly, it can even make beautiful reports, but not to worry, as original is always original. A report by the Reuters Institute Digital News, clearly stated that newsrooms worldwide have already started experimenting with AI-generated content, mostly for regular routine reports. Another report by the PwC India also highlighted that media roles and content creation is majorly moving towards  AI-led restructuring.

4. Basic financing role

There are many AI tools that easily make invoices, track expenses, do tax calculation, thus reducing the demand of humans to do the task that was once tedious. As per Deloitte’s Global Human Capital Trends, about 50% of tasks related to finance have been automated, especially at the entry-level roles.

As per ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India), AI automation has now given accountants a better role of advisory rather than clerical.

5. Recruitment roles

While this category might surprise many, it’s true, now AI is easily screening resumes, as per role requirements shortlisting candidates and even scrutinizing their answers. Huge multinational companies have already started using AI filters to filter thousands of CVs they receive.  A study by Harvard Business has discovered that now AI-based hiring tools are frequently used to get rid of the bulky process of hiring.

Well, AI will work as an Admin, the actual HR role is very much safe.
