What was meant to be a routine response to farmers’ complaints turned into a life-threatening ordeal for a forest department officer in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district on Friday.
Villagers in Sirsauli had been reporting for days that a wild boar was destroying crops and moving dangerously close to homes. Acting on these complaints, a forest department team reached the village to capture the animal and secure the area.
Officials were told that the boar was hiding inside a narrow canal near the fields. The team began setting up nets around the canal to trap it. With no water inside, forest guard Shivam Pratap Singh climbed down to check the spot himself.
Without warning, the boar burst out of nearby bushes and charged. As panic broke out, other team members ran for safety. Singh tried to escape but slipped and fell. The animal pounced on him, pinning him to the ground and biting near his waist, leaving him helpless.
For nearly two minutes, colleagues and villagers struggled to save him. They struck the boar repeatedly with sticks nearly 50 times before it finally let go. Moments later, the animal turned aggressive again, forcing everyone to retreat as it fled into nearby vegetation.
A disturbing video of the incident has since gone viral, showing the officer being dragged while others desperately try to pull the animal away.
