“We’re Not Finished Yet”: Trump Addresses Iran Military Actions

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a recent statement, President Donald Trump highlighted the importance of the Strait of Hormuz for oil companies amidst the ongoing military conflict backed by the United States between Iran and Israel. He remarked on Iran’s prolonged impact on global affairs over the past 47 years, asserting that the nation is now facing severe consequences for its actions.

Trump emphasized that the U.S. has exerted significant military pressure on Iran, claiming, “We have hit them harder than virtually any country in history has been hit, and we’re not finished yet.” He reiterated the extent of damage which he alleges Iran has inflicted on the world and noted, “Now they’re paying a big price.” According to Trump, the military operations being conducted in the region are unlike any other, with foreign leaders expressing disbelief at the scale of U.S. military capabilities that he developed during his administration.

Trump Defends Military Strategies

During the address, Trump expressed confidence in the military forces of the United States, stating, “We have the greatest military in the world by far – nobody close.” He encouraged oil companies to utilize the Strait of Hormuz and claimed that U.S. forces have significantly neutralized Iranian naval capabilities, including the destruction of many of their mine ships and a substantial portion of their navy in a single operation. Trump said, “We’re doing something that nobody ever thought was possible to do.” He described the U.S. military actions as a response to what he terms 47 years of Iranian abuse and violence.

Remarks by U.S. CENTCOM Commander

Admiral Brad Cooper, the commander of U.S. Central Command, echoed Trump’s sentiments on the military actions, stating that the objective is to dismantle Iran’s military capabilities. He commented, “We are on a path to eliminating Iran’s ability to threaten Americans and our friends,” emphasising a strategy that combines lethality, precision, and rapid innovation in military tactics. These updates were part of ongoing discussions surrounding “Operation Epic Fury,” as outlined by CENTCOM.

Responses to Civilian Casualties

In a press interaction, Trump was approached with inquiries regarding a recent attack on a school in southern Iran that reportedly resulted in the deaths of 175 individuals, primarily children. In response, he indicated he was not familiar with the event. The context surrounding these civilian casualties adds a layer of complexity to the military engagement and ongoing conflict in the region.

Iran’s Threats and Defensive Stance

Amid the conflict, Iran’s military spokesperson issued a stark warning, indicating that the country would retaliate if its ports are targeted in ongoing U.S.-led military actions. This statement was made following an alert from the United Nations military urging civilians in Iran to “immediately” avoid all port facilities associated with Iranian naval operations in the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian spokesperson declared that any strikes on their ports would render them “legitimate targets” for retaliation.
