Vijay Ganguly has secured the Best Choreography award at the 72nd National Film Awards for his work on the popular song “Aaj Ki Raat” from the film Stree 2. This accolade adds to his esteemed career in the film industry, reflecting his talent and dedication to his craft.

The award was presented to Ganguly by President Droupadi Murmu during a ceremony held on 22nd September 2026 in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. The event was attended by numerous industry professionals, highlighting the significance of the awards within Indian cinema.

Ganguly’s achievement was particularly memorable as his sister, actor Rupali Ganguly, was present at the ceremony, wholeheartedly supporting him as he received this honour. Her pride in her brother was palpable during the event.

Rupali Ganguly expressed her joy over her brother’s accomplishment on social media. She referred to herself as the “proudest” sister in a video she shared, celebrating the announcement of the National Award winners. Rupali remarked on their family’s journey, emphasising the significance of Vijay’s success in the industry.

In her heartfelt message, she reiterated her pride in being the sister of a National Award-winning choreographer. Rupali shared their mother’s anticipation that Vijay would achieve this recognition, marking it as a moment of familial pride.

She remarked on Vijay’s journey and challenges, acknowledging the struggles he faced along the path, including setbacks and disappointments. Despite these hurdles, she noted his consistent optimism, which has always been evident in his demeanor.

Other Notable Achievements at the Ceremony

The National Film Awards also recognised several other talented individuals in the film industry. Yami Gautam was awarded Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Article 370, marking a significant achievement in her career.

Additionally, the Best Actor in a Leading Role award was jointly awarded to Kartik Aaryan and Mammootty for their performances in Chandu Champion and Bramayugam, respectively. This was a notable decision, underscoring the exceptional talent present in contemporary Indian cinema.

Furthermore, the Best Hindi Film award was given to Srikanth for his work, adding to the night’s celebration of excellence within the film community.
