An 18-year-old was fatally stabbed after attempting to mediate in a dispute stemming from a remark made during a casual conversation. The event unfolded on the night of September 19 in Naraina Village, west Delhi, where the victim was identified as Sumit. According to police reports, the altercation arose when Aman Singh and his friend Narsingh were confronted over the request for Narsingh to refer to Aman Singh as “papa”.

Details of the Altercation

The police stated that as the situation intensified, Aman Kumar, the son of one of the alleged assailants, reportedly brandished a knife to threaten Aman Singh. Sumit intervened in an effort to quell the disagreement. Friends in the group were reportedly well-acquainted, and tension escalated rapidly.

Another mutual friend, Sargam, also arrived to help diffuse the conflict but was injured during the ensuing altercation. During the confrontation, it is alleged that Sumit was stabbed before Aman Kumar called his brother Anurag for assistance. Not long after, both Anurag and their father Rajesh arrived on the scene, reportedly joining in the assault on Sumit, who was already wounded.

Witnesses reported that Rajesh threatened Sumit with a stick as the three individuals fled the scene. Following the incident, emergency services were alerted. Sumit was immediately rushed to DDU Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Sargam also sustained injuries during the incident, though details regarding the extent of these injuries have not been disclosed.

Arrests Made and Investigation Progress

In the aftermath of this violent incident, police launched an investigation that led to the swift identification and arrest of the three suspects involved. Rajesh Kumar, aged 45, and his sons Aman Kumar, aged 22, and Anurag, aged 21, were apprehended following the enquiries conducted by local law enforcement. All individuals reside in Naraina Village, where they were reportedly familiar with the victim and had interacted before.

Authorities recovered the weapon allegedly used in the stabbing as well as the blood-stained clothing of the suspects, which were found based on their statements during interrogation. A formal murder case has been initiated at the Naraina police station, relying on the testimonies of witnesses who were present during the incident.

Local community members have expressed shock following the incident as people grapple with the tragic loss of a young life from what began as a simple disagreement. Further investigation is ongoing, as police remain focused on gathering more evidence and taking witness statements to build a comprehensive understanding of the events that led to Sumit’s untimely death.
