Vedanta’s VGCB to organize monthly free health check-up camps for community in Vizag

In order to provide better access to specialised healthcare facilities for the communities around Vizag, Vedanta’s Vizag General Cargo Berth (VGCB) has launched a unique healthcare initiative under which company will be organizing a specialised medical camp every month. With a series of monthly free health check-up camps, Vedanta’s VGCB is aiming to provide quality healthcare facilities at the doorstep for the needy people around its operations, especially targeting slum dwellers. The first medical camp under this noble initiative was organized at the nearby slum wherein a team of specialists including a general physician, a gynaecologist and a paediatrician provided free medical check-up & consultation services to the community. Based on the prescriptions, free medicines were distributed among patients by the VGCB team. The first camp received an overwhelming response from the community and benefitted more than 100 people.
This initiative by Vedanta’s VGCB, in partnership with FXB Suraksha, was lauded by residents and local leaders. Health is one of the major thrust areas of Vedanta – VGCB’s CSR interventions and the company has organised several initiatives to improve medical facilities in the periphery of its operations.

Cherukku Polamma, a beneficiary of Health camp, said “We could not afford the health services from the hospitals. Vedanta along with FXB Suraksha have provided Health services of specialist doctors free of cost. These services were really useful for my family members. I am very happy and thanks to Vedanta and FXBIS.”
Similarly, Chelluboina Paidamma, another beneficiary, said, ““It was very helpful as Specialist doctors were also available in the camp. Myself and my neighbours have availed this opportunity very well. I request you to organize these medical camps regularly. Thanks to Vedanta and FXB Suraksha”

Vedanta’s VGCB has been working towards boosting healthcare facilities in Vizag. Recently, the company donated medical equipment to King George Hospital and also launched a drinking water project benefitting around 2000 households.
