Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has laid the foundation stone for the second phase of a road widening project in the Sahaspur Assembly constituency of Dehradun district. This initiative, which covers a stretch from Mithiberry to Parwal leading up to Chandni Chowk and extends to Vigyan Dham Jhajhra, is set to be developed at a cost of Rs 1203.40 lakh. The Chief Minister emphasized that robust road infrastructure is essential for the comprehensive development of the state.
Connectivity and Economic Benefits
During the inauguration, Dhami highlighted that improved connectivity will foster local trade, tourism, education, and healthcare services. He expressed the belief that these enhancements will significantly strengthen the regional economy. In addition to the road project, several other developmental announcements were made for the Sahaspur region, including projects aimed at improving drinking water supply and sanitation.
Key Development Announcements
Among the key initiatives for the Sahaspur Assembly constituency are the construction of a tubewell for drinking water in Bhauwala, and drainage works aimed at alleviating waterlogging from Daru Chowk to the Keshavwala river in the municipal corporation area. A cremation ground, or Mokshdham, will be established near Arcadia Badowala Park, along with embankments and roads to safeguard agricultural land in Umedpur and Parwal. Furthermore, embankment work is planned for the Badowala residential area to minimize risks associated with land erosion.
Commitment to Infrastructure and Women’s Empowerment
The Chief Minister assured residents of the government’s commitment to expanding basic infrastructure in response to public expectations. He pointed out that Uttarakhand is on track to becoming a leading state in inclusive development, emphasizing a particular focus on empowering women. Dhami noted that the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative enables women to produce competitive products via self-help groups.
Economic Growth and Employment Opportunities
Dhami remarked on India’s economic progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the nation has positioned itself as the fourth-largest economy globally. He shared that Uttarakhand’s economy has experienced a remarkable 26-fold growth in recent years, with the budget exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore and power generation quadrupling. Additionally, there has been a notable 44 percent increase in reverse migration.
Preserving Cultural Identity and Focus on Employment
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining the original identity and cultural balance of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister asserted that any alterations would not be tolerated. He highlighted initiatives such as the Uniform Civil Code, stringent anti-copying laws, and rigorous measures against illegal land encroachment as demonstrations of the government’s commitment. In line with these efforts, he mentioned that a focus on job creation is underway, with plans for 10,000 to 12,000 new recruitments in the current financial year.
