Uttarakhand CM Dhami Accuses Mamata Banerjee’s Government of Oppression in West Bengal

The CSR Journal Magazine

During the ongoing Parivartan Yatra campaign in West Bengal, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. He claimed that the people of West Bengal have faced years of “oppression, fear, and corruption” under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Speaking to the media, he expressed that the sentiment among the populace indicated a readiness for political change, noting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was conducting outreach across various villages in the state.

BJP’s Outreach Programme Across Villages

Dhami emphasized the extent of dissatisfaction among the residents, citing concerns over governance, corruption, and deficiencies in the healthcare system. As part of the Parivartan Yatra, the BJP is organizing events at nine different locations across West Bengal. According to Dhami, these efforts aim to connect with each village and community. He remarked that there is a growing consensus among the people for a political shift, as the BJP aims to establish a “double-engine government” under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Concerns Over Law and Order

Addressing the law and order situation in West Bengal, Dhami stated that many individuals have suffered tremendously due to the current governance. He mentioned grave incidents where citizens lost their lives merely for exercising their voting rights. He further highlighted that those who adhere to the Constitution are often facing threats and intimidation. His comments illustrated a call for a more prosperous future for West Bengal, akin to other states in the country.

Illegal Immigration Issues Raised by Dhami

Dhami also addressed the issue of illegal immigration within the state, alleging that the TMC has facilitated the settlement of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to strengthen their electoral base. He claimed that the situation is problematic, particularly with the Election Commission now implementing measures to address the issue. The Chief Minister expressed that the actions being taken for voter verification have created discontent among the ruling party.

Amit Shah Also Criticizes TMC Government

Previously, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had made critical remarks about Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting that the term ‘Parivartan’ reflects the desire to rid West Bengal of issues such as infiltration and corruption. Shah stated that the aim of the Parivartan Yatra was not merely to change the Chief Minister but to initiate a broader transformation in governance. The campaign anticipates covering more than 5,000 kilometers and encompasses a total of 63 major rallies alongside 282 smaller gatherings as part of its agenda leading up to the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
