The recently launched trailer for the period drama series, The Revolutionaries, showcases prominent actors Bhuvan Bam and Rohit Saraf leading a fight against British colonial rule. The series, created and directed by Nikkhil Advani, is set to premiere on Prime Video on September 11, 2026. It draws inspiration from Sanjeev Sanyal’s non-fiction book, Revolutionaries: The Other Story Of How India Won Its Freedom.

The storyline revolves around the lives of four young revolutionaries, including Bam as Rash Behari Bose and Saraf as Sachindra Nath Sanyal, who courageously engage in armed resistance during India’s struggle for independence. Other key cast members include Gurfateh Pirzada as Bagha Jatin and Pratibha Ranta as Pratibha Lahiri. The narrative reveals their experiences as they confront General Dyer, portrayed by Jason Shah.

Production Details and Creative Team

The Revolutionaries is produced by Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani under the Emmay Entertainment banner. The writing team includes Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh, Akshita Wadhwana, Shobhit Narang, and Rutvi Mehta. Together, they aim to present a narrative that is not only historically informed but also resonates with contemporary audiences.

While discussing his character, Bam described Rash Behari Bose as a master of disguise, a “behrupiya”, who played a significant role in the resistance against the British. He acknowledged the creative freedom in developing this character due to the limited archival records related to him, and praised Advani’s direction for fostering an atmosphere conducive to exploration.

Characters and Their Significance

Rohit Saraf, portraying Sachindra Nath Sanyal, shared his insights on the role, highlighting the personal and emotional challenges that come with embodying a real-life figure from India’s freedom struggle. He remarked on the honour of playing a character who embodies both youthful innocence and a strong sense of conviction, qualities he believes are relatable to audiences today.

Pratibha Ranta stated that her character, Pratibha Lahiri, represents the struggles of a young, progressive woman fighting for recognition in a predominantly male-dominated society. She emphasised the relevance of such narratives in today’s context and noted the collaborative effort with the director and writers in developing her character authentically.

Gurfateh Pirzada also commented on the opportunity to explore a lesser-known historical figure, Bagha Jatin, describing the importance of his quiet strength and the depth of his character. He remarked on the clarity of Advani’s vision, which aimed to deliver a fast-paced, youthful narrative that distinguishes The Revolutionaries from conventional period dramas.
