The fully indigenous AK-203 rifle, designated ‘Sher’, has successfully completed its firing trials at the Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) facility located in Korwa, Amethi. This information was confirmed by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office.

The AK-203 ‘Sher’ was manufactured at the IRRPL facility in Korwa. A post on social media platform X from the Chief Minister’s Office indicated that this development highlights India’s progress in reducing reliance on imports in defense manufacturing.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is being recognized as a significant hub for defense manufacturing, contributing to India’s aim of self-reliance.

In a related event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the ‘Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra’ scheme, which includes provisions for free travel for women aged 60 and above in the state. Speaking at the launch in Lucknow, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of making women’s journeys more convenient and dignified, furthering their self-reliance. Under this initiative, women over 60 will benefit from free bus travel, as will a companion accompanying them on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Chief Minister Yogi stated, “The honor of maternal power and their convenience is our priority.”
