Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami offered prayers to Lord Dhanvantari on September 23, 2026, at his residence to commemorate Ayurveda Day. During the ceremony, he prayed for the health, happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the state’s residents. Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the significance of Ayurveda as a vital component of India’s ancient knowledge and heritage.

Dhami underscored the essential role Ayurveda plays in promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing illnesses. He mentioned that the traditional system of medicine is crucial for the overall well-being of the populace, encouraging individuals to embrace its teachings for a healthier future.

According to Dhami, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Ayurveda is gaining new recognition and identity on global platforms. This recognition is bolstering India’s traditional systems of medicine, contributing to their acceptance and integration across various health disciplines worldwide.

Inaugural Ceremony at Patanjali Ayurveda Gurukul

In addition to offering prayers, Dhami attended the inaugural ceremony of the Patanjali Ayurveda Gurukul at the Patanjali Wellness Yoggram in Haridwar. This event further reinforces the state’s commitment to promoting Ayurveda and traditional healing practices.

The Patanjali Wellness Yoggram encompasses a range of facilities aimed at advancing the principles of Ayurveda, including education, research, and wellness practices. This initiative reflects a broader aim of integrating traditional healing methods into contemporary health care.

Participation in Nanda-Sunanda Mahotsav

On the preceding day, September 22, 2023, Dhami also participated in the Nanda-Sunanda Mahotsav in Nainital, where he offered prayers at the feet of Goddess Nanda-Sunanda. During this festival, he wished for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of the citizens. The Chief Minister described the Nanda Devi Mahotsav as not only a fair but also a celebration of Uttarakhand’s faith, culture, and traditions.

During the event, Dhami welcomed attendees, including women, senior citizens, youth, and children, emphasising the vital role that cultural traditions play in fostering social cohesion. He noted that the rituals associated with welcoming Goddess Nanda-Sunanda, along with folk songs and various folk art forms, are celebrated through this festival.

Dhami remarked that a society that takes pride in its roots and culture is one that can progress confidently. He also described Nainital’s beauty, characterised by its famous lake, mountains, and verdant valleys, while stressing that it represents not only a tourist destination but also a land rich in spirituality and faith.

The Chief Minister highlighted various religious sites, including Naina Devi Temple, Hanumangarhi, and Kainchi Dham, as places where many devotees seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Nainital is appreciated both for its natural beauty and its spiritual significance, making it a notable location for locals and visitors alike.
