This development was disclosed by a spokesperson from the Chinese government on Thursday, leading to heightened anticipation that an official announcement may occur during the forthcoming summit between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington on September 24.

During a weekly press briefing, Huang Ling, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

He stated that negotiators are working diligently to effectuate reciprocal tariff reductions “at an early date.” While Ms Ling did not provide additional details, her remarks suggest a prioritisation of trade negotiations ahead of the meeting.

Creation of a US-China Board of Trade

The proposed reciprocal tariff reductions form a significant part of the broader negotiations aimed at establishing a US-China Board of Trade.
