Two Sisters Injured After Falling from Moving Bus in Karnataka

The CSR Journal Magazine

Two sisters, who are students preparing for their Class 12 (SSLC) examination, sustained injuries after falling from a moving KSRTC bus in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka. The incident reportedly took place when the bus’s door unexpectedly opened while navigating a curve, resulting in the girls being thrown onto the road. The event unfolded in Beltangady taluk, where witnesses indicated that the bus appeared to be overcrowded, which forced the sisters to stand near the entrance.

Immediate Medical Response

Following the incident, the sisters were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their current health status has not been disclosed. This unfortunate event has triggered renewed concerns regarding the safety standards on public transportation, specifically regarding overcrowding and the operational integrity of state-run buses. The situation was captured on video, amplifying public outcry and dialogue surrounding the topic.

Separate Accident in Shivamogga District

In a related report from Karnataka, another accident occurred involving a private bus, which resulted in injuries to 36 individuals. The bus was reported to have gone out of control and subsequently plunged off a bridge in the Shivamogga district on Monday. The incident occurred around 1:30 PM near the village of Veerapura in Bhadravati taluk.

Details of the Shivamogga Incident

The bus was en route from Channagiri in Davanagere district to Bhadravati when the driver allegedly lost control as it approached a bridge. The vehicle struck the side barrier and overturned, landing in a stream below. Fortunately, the water level in the stream was low at the time. Rescue operations indicated that all 36 occupants, including the driver and conductor, suffered injuries. Among them, 25 individuals had minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital.

Police Investigation Underway

The police have registered a case at the Bhadravati Rural police station and are in the process of investigating the circumstances that led to this serious incident. The rising number of accidents involving buses has raised critical questions regarding road safety and the enforcement of regulations regarding passenger transport within the state.
