Train Services Will Resume Normal Schedule on October 11

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Northern Railway has confirmed that train services will return to their regular schedule on October 11. This announcement comes after a series of cancellations and schedule adjustments that occurred on October 9 and 10, following a protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) against the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi.

On October 10, Indian Railways cancelled several Mail and Express trains that were planned to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations from 4 am to 2 pm. The cancellations affected trains departing after 2 pm on October 9, which were scheduled to arrive at either station during the specified timeframe. The decision was made based on safety and traffic advisories that indicated potential severe congestion near the railway stations due to the anticipated protest.

Details of Cancellations and Delays

This disruption led to the cancellation of numerous trains operating between Indore and Delhi. Notably, both the Rajdhani Express and August Kranti Express experienced delays of approximately five hours on Saturday. Mukesh Kumar, the Public Relations Officer for the Ratlam Division, mentioned that trains originating from Indore and Dr. Ambedkar Nagar had been cancelled or rescheduled due to operational reasons.

Specifically, Train No. 20155 (Dr Ambedkar Nagar–Indore), Train No. 09309 (Indore–New Delhi Special), and Train No. 12415 (Indore–New Delhi Express) were among those cancelled. Additionally, the Yuva Express service to Delhi was also called off. Kumar assured that passengers with confirmed bookings would receive full refunds for the cancelled services.

Furthermore, for passengers travelling from Mumbai, two trains departing from Mumbai Central on October 9 were rescheduled. The 12951 Rajdhani Express and 12953 August Kranti Express will now run five hours later than originally planned due to these operational concerns.

Actions by Other Railway Divisions

In a separate development, the West Central Railway’s Bhopal division announced the cancellation of the 22221 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (Mumbai)-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express on October 9, citing similar operational reasons. This decision reflects the broader impact of the protests on the train schedule across several divisions.

The railway administration has expressed regret for the disruptions caused to passengers during this period and is working to minimise the inconvenience as operations resume. With services returning to normal, authorities have reiterated their commitment to passenger safety and operational efficiency.

As train services normalise, passengers are encouraged to check for updates and schedules before travelling to ensure a smooth journey. The return to regular operations is expected to improve travel conditions and restore confidence among commuters following the recent challenges.
