Toyota Glanza Facelift Teased Ahead of October 14 Launch

The CSR Journal Magazine

Toyota has recently unveiled the first teaser of the redesigned Glanza, showcasing the aesthetic alterations prior to its scheduled launch on October 14. This update is anticipated to introduce a refreshed front-end design, along with a host of interior enhancements and a more fuel-efficient petrol engine. The changes are expected to align closely with the modifications anticipated in the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which shares its platform with the Glanza.

The teaser offers a glimpse of the revised front fascia, highlighting a larger grille adorned with honeycomb detailing and chrome elements. Additionally, the emblem has been repositioned onto a body-coloured strip situated above the grille, with a broad chrome trim visually connecting the headlamp areas. The redesigned fog lamps further contribute to the updated appearance. While the headlamps and LED daytime running lights are likely to maintain their current design, the rear styling is expected to remain largely unchanged.

New 16-inch alloy wheels are also expected to be part of the exterior modifications, enhancing the hatchback’s profile. These changes aim to give the Glanza a more contemporary and appealing look, appealing to potential buyers in the competitive premium hatchback market.

Interior Features Expected to Enhance Comfort

The interior of the facelifted Glanza is likely to retain the overall layout of the current model’s dashboard, with the introduction of additional comfort features. Prospective upgrades may include ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger equipped with cooling provisions, and an enhanced Clarion audio system. These additions are aimed at providing a more luxurious experience for occupants.

A major update anticipated in this facelift is the potential introduction of an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) package. This would significantly bolster the safety features available in the hatchback, addressing rising consumer demand for enhanced vehicle safety. Nevertheless, the final list of features and their distribution across various trims will only be confirmed upon the vehicle’s official launch.

Several interior modifications are expected to be optional, allowing prospective buyers to tailor their Glanza to their preferences. This commitment to increased comfort and convenience underscores Toyota’s aim to remain competitive in this segment.

Engine Changes and Pricing Structure

One of the most noteworthy updates is the potential change in the engine configuration for the Glanza. The facelifted model is anticipated to incorporate Maruti Suzuki’s Z12E 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, replacing the existing K12N four-cylinder option. In its application within the Baleno, the Z12E engine generates 83bhp and 112Nm of torque. Although these figures are slightly lower than the current Glanza’s claimed output of 90bhp and 113Nm, the newer engine is expected to offer better fuel efficiency.

Furthermore, a factory-fitted CNG option is likely to continue in the new model, producing 70bhp and 102Nm. The existing petrol variant offers a choice between a five-speed manual transmission and a five-speed AMT, while the CNG model features a manual gearbox. Toyota is expected to maintain these transmission options, although it remains to be seen whether an AMT-equipped CNG variant will be introduced.

The updated Glanza’s pricing structure may also see revisions alongside its feature enhancements and mechanical upgrades. Currently, the model is priced between Rs 6.73 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the facelifted Glanza will face competition from established rivals in the premium hatchback segment, including the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Tata Altroz. Detailed specifications, features, and pricing for the new model are expected to be disclosed on October 14.
