Kolkata, India: Rajanya Halder, a suspended leader of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), has filed a police complaint alleging that AI-generated semi-nude images of her have been created and circulated among junior students.
Halder claims that “Dadas” (senior members) close to the ruling party are behind the malicious act. The complaint has been lodged at Sonarpur Police Station and also forwarded to the Cyber Crime Cell at Lalbazar.
Explosive Allegations Amidst Growing Scandals
Halder’s accusations come amidst a backdrop of escalating controversies, including the recent alleged gang rape at Kasba Law College, where Monojit Mishra was arrested. Furthermore, the incident follows recent reports and video footage of TMCP student leaders allegedly engaging in obscene acts, which have sparked widespread public outrage and condemnation.
Rajanya Halder’s allegations add another layer of complexity to the challenges facing the student wing of the ruling party. Students are reportedly coming forward with further shocking claims against Monojit Mishra, and Halder’s statement has intensified the scrutiny on the organization.
“More Than One Monojit Mishra”
In a scathing statement, Halder alleged that it’s not just Monojit Mishra, but “many more Monojits” exist within the ruling party. She claims she had previously made these explosive allegations to the party but had not approached the police until now. “I informed the party because I loved the party and wanted them to take action, believing it would purify the party in the long run,” Halder stated. She had earlier indicated she would go to the police if the party advised it, and has now proceeded to file an official complaint via email.
Investigation Underway, Suspects Identified
Halder claims her images have been repeatedly circulated on mobile phones in several locations. While she suspects certain individuals are responsible, she has not yet publicly named them, stating she will reveal their identities once the police investigation commences. The circulation of these images has also sparked debate, with some questioning their authenticity. Halder has urged the police to investigate and ascertain the true nature of the images.
“I have approached the police because some AI-generated or Photoshopped images of mine have been circulated in various places,” Rajanya Halder said. “I want the police to investigate and declare that those are not my pictures, but AI-generated or morphed. I have a suspect list, including those ‘Dadas’ who circulated the pictures among juniors. I have informed the police. The important thing is that these individuals, regardless of their political affiliation – whether TMC, BJP, Congress, or CPM – are still at large and have not been punished.”
Halder further stated, “I had previously informed the party about my suspect list, and the party had assured me. It is being said that my pictures went viral, which is why I was compelled to state that they are AI-generated or morphed. I want the police to investigate and for the law to declare that they are AI-generated or morphed images. Given the situation, I felt I could no longer remain silent.” The police have confirmed they have received the complaint and an investigation is underway.
