The CSR Journal Magazine

A series of suspected attempts to lure minor girls to a hotel in Ahmedabad using counterfeit Aadhaar cards was disrupted following a local resident’s alert. Authorities moved quickly to apprehend three individuals from the Vasna area, who are accused of trying to entice three minor girls by misrepresenting their identities. The perpetrators allegedly fabricated Aadhaar cards that inaccurately indicated the girls were adults, which raised alarms when a familiar figure spotted their actions. Police intervened before the group could reach the hotel venue.

Details of the Arrested Individuals

The police identified the three arrested suspects as Aamir Ali Shaikh, Mohammad Siraj Salmani, and Altab Ali Ansari. Another suspect, named Arvind Chauhan, remains at large. Officials have logged charges against all four under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, in addition to allegations involving forgery and deceit.

Method of Operation Revealed

Investigators detailed that the arrested individuals created fraudulent Aadhaar cards that misrepresented the minors as adults, facilitating entry into hotel premises. In a notable instance, the cards altered the identity details to show a different community and an exaggerated age. The police stated that an application, referred to as Honesta, was employed in the creation of these bogus documents.

Prior Relationships and Victimization

According to police statements, the accused and the minors had resided in the same locality and were acquainted for approximately one and a half years. During this time, it is alleged that the girls were lured to various locations, including Malav Talab and Parimal Garden, where they faced harassment. A police representative noted that the suspects had maintained contact with the minors for an extended period and had utilized fake documents to execute their plan.

Ongoing Investigations and Further Actions

Currently, authorities have successfully detained three suspects, while efforts to apprehend the fourth individual are ongoing. Investigations are also being broadened to ascertain whether additional individuals were involved in this scheme and to determine if there have been other similar incidents reported in the area. Police continue to probe further into this matter to unveil any additional connections or occurrences.
