Kolkata police have arrested three men for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in the Dum Dum area on Saturday evening. The accused have been identified as Sanju Saha, Vicky Paswan, and Rajesh Paswan, officials said.

How the Incident Took Place?

According to investigators, the Class 7 student had gone out for her tuition when she met one of the accused, whom she already knew. The two were later joined by two more men, and the group spent some time together at a park before the situation turned violent. The men allegedly forced the girl into an e-rickshaw and took her to a house in Motilal Colony, where she was reportedly tortured and gang-raped.

The girl managed to escape later that night and returned home in a distressed condition. After narrating the ordeal to her parents, they immediately lodged a complaint at the Dum Dum Police Station.

Police launched a manhunt and arrested all three accused within hours. They have been charged under several sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, including provisions related to gang rape and wrongful confinement.

All Accused Arrested

The court has remanded Sanju Saha to five days of police custody, while Vicky and Rajesh Paswan were sent to one day of judicial custody.

A senior officer said the investigation is underway and medical examinations have been conducted. “All three suspects have been taken into custody, and further evidence is being collected,” the officer said.

The incident has triggered public outrage in the area. On Sunday morning, local BJP workers staged a protest outside the Dum Dum Police Station, demanding swift justice and strict punishment for the accused.
