Thane Businessman Killed in Kalyan After Alleged Minor-Driven Car Collision

The CSR Journal Magazine

A well-known businessman from Thane lost his life when a car, allegedly driven by a minor, struck him from behind while he was riding his bicycle in Kalyan. The victim, identified as Srinivas Tandale, succumbed to his injuries on the spot following the collision. CCTV footage revealed the vehicle hitting the bicycle on the left side of the road, propelling Tandale into the air on a mostly deserted stretch of the roadway.

Details Surrounding the Incident

Initial investigations indicate that a 17-year-old boy took the car keys from his home and drove onto the Ring Road. Reports suggest that he was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into Tandale from behind. In response to the incident, the Thane police acted promptly, seizing the car and taking the minor into custody shortly after 9 am on Wednesday. A case has also been registered against the minor’s mother, Kamini Yogesh Pandey, with potential legal action being contemplated against his father for negligence.

Accident-Prone Zone Concerns

The area where the accident occurred, located on Ring Road near Chandori, has reportedly become a hotspot for accidents in recent days. Local residents have expressed concerns over increased traffic flow and speeding, especially following the removal of barricades that had previously regulated traffic in the area. Witnesses noted that such changes have made the road significantly more hazardous for cyclists and pedestrians alike.

Community Reaction and Upcoming Protest

Rahnuma Ai Shamuddin, a member of a local cycling group, highlighted issues regarding safety for those using the roadway for recreational activities. She pointed out that the area has seen a surge in danger for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. In light of the tragic incident, members of the cycling community, along with residents, have organized a protest set for Thursday. The demonstrators aim to urge local authorities for tighter traffic regulations and enhanced safety measures to prevent future accidents.
