Telangana to Implement Single Window Policy for Film Production Permissions

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Chief Minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, has made an announcement regarding the introduction of a single window policy aimed at simplifying the process of obtaining film production permissions online. This initiative is expected to streamline the film-making process in Hyderabad, which has been recognized as a vibrant hub for cinema.

During the Gaddar Film Award presentation event, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting film production from across the globe in Hyderabad. He emphasised the vision of establishing the city as a global filmmaking destination. Notably, streaming platform Netflix has already established its GCC center in Hyderabad, signaling Hollywood’s increasing presence in the region.

Reddy stated that the government is eager to attract film industries from countries such as Japan and South Korea, further enhancing Hyderabad’s profile as a significant market for filmmaking. He pointed out that the city has the potential to grow the film industry into a major economic contributor in the region.

Hyderabad’s Historical Significance and Safety

The Chief Minister remarked on Hyderabad’s historical significance, stating the city has remained a safe place even during tumultuous times such as world wars. He asserted that the local government is supportive of the film industry at par with other major sectors like information technology and pharmaceuticals.

Reddy expressed the government’s readiness to reassure investors about the potential of Hyderabad, especially in light of current dynamics in Dubai’s film industry. He acknowledged the contributions of notable figures in the Telugu film industry, including Gaddar, NTR, ANR, and Ramoji Rao, emphasising their roles in elevating the local cinema scene.

Focus on New Talent and Film Industry Expansion

During the same event, Reddy remarked that awards named after Gaddar, who raised awareness about social issues through his music, would serve to inspire young talents in the film community. The Chief Minister highlighted his duty to foster new talent and create opportunities for emerging filmmakers.

Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, noted earlier this year that the state is prioritising the Telugu film industry with the aim of positioning Hyderabad as a national cinema hub. He explained that while other Indian cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai have limited room for further growth in the film sector, Hyderabad offers ample opportunities for expansion across various languages and genres.

Hyderabad’s Favourable Conditions for Filmmaking

The favourable environment in Hyderabad, including its infrastructure and resources, is seen as advantageous for the film industry, according to the Deputy Chief Minister. The government’s strategic initiatives are aimed at ensuring that Hyderabad continues to thrive as a preferred location for filmmaking.
