Suryakumar Yadav Addresses Viral Petrol Pump Photo from 2014

The CSR Journal Magazine

Following India’s victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has responded to the online resurgence of two of his past social media posts. Screenshots from the early years of his career began trending, capturing attention across various platforms. One notable image features Yadav outside what he later clarified was a friend’s petrol pump inauguration, while another post from 2013 was captioned “Ahmedabad calling.”

Suryakumar Yadav Reacts to the Resurgence

Yadav shared that he became aware of the viral posts when members of his social media team informed him. He recalled, “People were telling me that the photo was trending. Even the social media team mentioned it and sent it to me on WhatsApp.” Reflecting on the moment he rediscovered the images, Yadav noted that the petrol pump photo dates back to around 2010 or 2011, during which he attended the inauguration of a friend’s petrol station.

Context of the Viral Photo

The image features a young Yadav casually posing at the event. Its resurgence comes at a time when he has evolved significantly in his career, now serving as the captain of India’s T20 cricket team. Yadav elaborated on the context of the photograph, stating, “When I saw it, I remembered it was from around 2010 or 2011. A friend of mine was inaugurating a petrol pump, and I happened to be nearby, so I went there. That’s when the photo was taken.”

The Journey to Success

Another of his earlier posts that circulated online was from 2013, featuring the phrase “Ahmedabad calling.” Yadav reflected on the amount of time it took to reach his current stature in Indian cricket by saying, “It took almost 15 years to reach here, but it has been a wonderful journey.” He further emphasized the significance of these early moments in shaping his career trajectory.

Rise in Indian Cricket

Yadav has made significant strides through domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL), eventually solidifying his place in the national team. His ascendancy led to him taking on the role of T20 captain, guiding India effectively throughout the recent World Cup campaign. The resurfacing of these posts is notable as they capture Yadav’s journey from earlier days, well before he became a leading figure in India’s T20 cricket scene.
