A tragic incident in Karnataka has led to the arrest of a 65-year-old retired employee of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Nageshwar Rao, who is alleged to have killed his wife, Sandya Sri, at their home on Wednesday morning. The police were notified of the situation around 11 AM in the jurisdiction of the Avalahalli police station. Following the incident, Rao was taken into custody by law enforcement officials.

Details of the Alleged Crime

Authorities revealed that Rao reportedly strangled his wife using a towel within their residence. After the alleged attack, he chose to remain at the location and made contact with an acquaintance, who subsequently informed the police. Officers arrived promptly at the scene and detained Rao for questioning and further investigation.

Investigating Possible Motives Linked to Depression

Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Whitefield area, Saidulu Adavath, indicated that the accused was undergoing treatment for depression and appeared to have been experiencing significant distress. Reports suggest that Rao allegedly had intentions of ending his own life following the incident. Investigators are currently examining his medical history and other relevant circumstances that might have led to this tragic event.

No Immediate Evidence of External Factors

Police inquiries have not uncovered any evidence of prior domestic disputes or outside involvement regarding the couple. At this point in the investigation, no additional motives have been identified, leading officers to believe that underlying mental health issues may have played a significant role in the event.

Family Notification and Legal Proceedings

The couple’s daughter, currently residing in the United States, has been informed about the incident. Consequently, a murder case has been officially registered, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter to gather more details and understand the full context of the crime.
