A relative of a victim of the 2003 Nadimarg massacre has appealed to authorities to reopen the case and pursue those responsible for the killings of Kashmiri Pandits. The demand comes after the State Investigation Agency (SIA) reopened several cases linked to attacks on the community.

Recalling the 2003 Massacre

Speaking to ANI, the victim’s relative recalled the events of March 2003, when militants allegedly attacked Kashmiri Pandit families in Nadimarg, Pulwama. According to the account, the attackers first disarmed police personnel before entering homes and holding residents at gunpoint.

The relative said the victims were subsequently killed and valuables were looted. They expressed hope that renewed investigations could help identify and prosecute those responsible.

Call for Justice

The victim’s family member urged the government to take the case forward, saying justice should be delivered regardless of the religious identity of those involved.

The appeal follows the SIA’s decision to reopen multiple cases concerning alleged killings of Kashmiri Pandits. The agency has also revisited the 1998 Wandhama massacre in Ganderbal, in which 23 Kashmiri Pandits were reportedly killed.

SIA Reopens Multiple Cases

The SIA is investigating several other high-profile cases involving the alleged killings of civilians and prominent figures, including a nurse, author, political leader and judge.

Earlier this month, the agency conducted searches at nine locations across Jammu and Kashmir as part of a probe into a 1990 double-murder case involving Kashmiri Pandits.

The renewed investigations have raised hopes among victims’ families that long-pending cases could receive fresh attention and potentially lead to accountability.
