OnePlus 16 Specifications Leaked Ahead of Official Launch

The CSR Journal Magazine

The OnePlus 16 is nearing its official launch in China, with the company teasing several details about the device online. Recent leaks have emerged, outlining almost all the specifications for the upcoming flagship. This includes crucial information regarding the camera, battery capacity, and chipset, offering a comprehensive view of what consumers can anticipate from OnePlus’s latest offering.

Notably, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will be the first device to utilise ColourOS 17. The smartphone is designed to support a 165Hz refresh rate, a feature that its predecessor, the OnePlus 15, also possessed but was primarily limited to gaming scenarios, with general usage capped at 120Hz. The new model aims to allow the higher refresh rate for all activities.

Display and Battery Details

Industry tipster Digital Chat Station has disclosed that the OnePlus 16 will be equipped with a BOE X4 display that supports a 165Hz refresh rate for everyday tasks and can even reach 185Hz during gaming sessions. Furthermore, the device is reportedly fitted with a substantially large 9,000mAh battery, which has a rated capacity of 8,780mAh. This battery will feature a dual-cell setup, enabling rapid charging with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging capabilities.

On the subject of this significant battery, users can expect efficient power management, potentially enhancing the device’s overall performance and longevity throughout the day. Such features are becoming increasingly sought after in the competitive flagship smartphone market, emphasising OnePlus’s commitment to delivering robust specifications.

Camera, Chipset, and Design Predictions

The camera configuration of the OnePlus 16 is arguably one of its most exciting aspects. It is anticipated to include a primary 200-megapixel camera equipped with an 11.4-inch sensor. Additionally, the device is expected to have a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, which also uses an 11.95-inch sensor. This advanced camera setup could potentially elevate the photography experience for users, appealing to both casual photographers and enthusiasts.

For its internal performance, the OnePlus 16 is tipped to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, built using TSMC’s 2nm process. This configuration is expected to feature an octa-core CPU composed of a 2+3+3 arrangement, complemented by an Adreno 850 GPU. Such specifications are likely to ensure a smooth and responsive user experience, meeting the demands of various applications and gaming.

In terms of design, preliminary leaks suggest that the OnePlus 16 may showcase thinner bezels compared to the OnePlus 15, which would contribute to a more immersive visual display. However, detailed insights into the device’s design and the official launch timeline have yet to be confirmed by OnePlus. Speculation indicates that the OnePlus 16 could be officially introduced in China in October 2026, with a global release potentially following in November.
