Additionally, a specific sub-umbrella project for Western Railway has received approval, amounting to Rs 2,800 crore, which encompasses the current OFC initiative.

Under this approved plan, the project will see the installation of 2×48 fibre OFC cables across a distance of 1,929 Route Kilometres (RKm) throughout the Western Railway network. This includes extensive coverage of 1,456 RKm in the Ahmedabad Division and 473 RKm in the Ratlam Division. The implementation of this backbone aims to establish a robust and modern communication infrastructure.

This enhancement to the communication network is expected to bolster the existing systems significantly.
