A long-running family dispute over land allegedly culminated in a brutal triple murder in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj district. The case came to light after Mukund Patel approached Mauaima police station to report his father, sister, and niece missing from their village in the Ganga Nagar area.

In his complaint, Mukund expressed suspicion that his elder brother, Mukesh Patel, could be involved in their disappearance.

Police Interrogation Reveals Grim Truth

Following the complaint, a joint team of Mauaima police and the Special Operations Group detained Mukesh Patel for questioning. During interrogation, police say Mukesh confessed to killing his father Ram Singh (55), sister Sadhana, and 14-year-old niece Aastha. The accused reportedly revealed that tensions had been simmering for months over a land dispute within the family.

Land Dispute at the Heart of the Violence

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Gunawat, Mukesh was enraged after his father transferred four bighas of land to his younger son, Mukund. Mukesh allegedly demanded 10 biswa of land for himself, but when his father refused, the conflict escalated. Police said the accused had been nursing resentment that eventually turned violent.

Investigators claim that on the night of January 2, Mukesh went to his father’s house with the intent to kill him. When his sister and niece tried to intervene, all three were allegedly attacked and killed. Police stated that the accused later disposed of the bodies in a nearby well, using the cover of dense fog to avoid detection.

Recovery and Arrest

Based on Mukesh’s confession, police recovered the bodies from the well and seized the alleged murder weapon. Officers also claimed to have recovered a country-made pistol and cartridges from his possession. The bodies were sent for postmortem examination to complete legal formalities.

Case Registered, Probe Continues

An FIR has been registered at Mauaima police station, and Mukesh Patel has been taken into custody. Police are continuing their investigation to establish the complete sequence of events and collect forensic evidence. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting how family property disputes can spiral into tragic violence.
