PM Modi Welcomes Emmanuel Macron, Says Visit Will Take India France Ties To New Heights

The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron to India, expressing confidence that the visit would deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen ties across multiple sectors.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Welcome to India. India looks forward to your visit and to advancing our bilateral ties to new heights. I am confident that our discussions will further strengthen cooperation across sectors and contribute to global progress. See you in Mumbai and later in Delhi, my dear friend Emmanuel Macron.”

Bilateral Talks To Strengthen Strategic Partnership

The visit will see PM Modi and President Macron hold detailed bilateral talks aimed at reinforcing the India France strategic partnership. Discussions are expected to cover defence cooperation, trade, technology, climate action and global governance issues.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that Macron was warmly received at Mumbai airport by the Governor. He added that during the visit, the two leaders will formally launch the India France Year of Innovation 2026, which is expected to expand collaboration in emerging technologies, research and startup ecosystems.

Focus On Innovation And Economic Cooperation

The launch of the India France Year of Innovation 2026 is being seen as a key highlight of the trip. Officials indicated that the initiative will promote joint research, innovation partnerships and deeper engagement between academic institutions and private sector players in both countries.

Macron’s visit is also expected to focus on strengthening economic ties and exploring new avenues of cooperation in strategic and high technology sectors. With India and France already working closely in defence and civil nuclear energy, the current round of talks aims to build on that foundation and chart a roadmap for future collaboration.

The meeting underscores the growing convergence between New Delhi and Paris on global issues, as both leaders seek to enhance cooperation that contributes not only to bilateral growth but also to broader global progress.
