The second shipment of medical supplies donated by the people of India was dispatched on April 9, 2026, to the Red Crescent Society in Iran. This initiative highlights the strengthening humanitarian partnership between India and Iran during ongoing challenges faced by the latter. The Iranian ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, reported that the aid shipment was made possible through voluntary contributions by Indian citizens aimed at procuring essential medicines.

Ambassador Fathali expressed profound gratitude for this gesture, describing it as a demonstration of solidarity and compassion during difficult times. He stated, “I consider it my duty to express sincere gratitude to the people and the government of India for their sympathy and solidarity with the people and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” The ambassador emphasised the reliability of India as a partner in times of crisis, marking this shipment as an important symbol of cooperation.

In his remarks, Fathali elaborated on the collaborative efforts facilitated by the embassy, stating that it successfully utilised voluntary contributions from Indian citizens to purchase the necessary medical supplies needed in Iran. “The embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Delhi had utilised voluntary contributions from the people of India to procure medicine, and this is a part of these efforts,” he noted.

Embassy Deactivates Fundraising Accounts

Following the latest shipment, the Iranian Embassy in India announced the deactivation of accounts that were previously set up to receive monetary contributions. On April 7, 2026, the embassy made this announcement in appreciation of the considerable support and solidarity provided by Indian citizens. The embassy urged individuals to refrain from transferring any funds to these deactivated accounts or any other accounts that might be incorrectly presented as belonging to it.

The embassy’s communication stated, “In appreciation of the commendable support and solidarity of the noble people of India, it is hereby informed that the Embassy accounts previously designated for receiving monetary contributions have now been deactivated.” This step reflects the embassy’s respect for the contributions made by individuals while ensuring transparency and security regarding financial dealings.

Previously, on March 22, 2026, the Iranian Embassy had publicly thanked the Indian populace for their kindness, including acts of generosity such as donations of money and jewellery directed towards rebuilding efforts in Iran. The embassy’s messages conveyed a lasting sense of gratitude, underscoring the emotional connection established through these contributions.

Long-lasting Friendship and Cooperation

Ambassador Fathali noted that India’s willingness to extend humanitarian assistance in times of need would not be forgotten. The embassy specifically commended the people of Kashmir, highlighting their supportive response during challenging times. “With hearts full of gratitude, we sincerely thank the kind people of Kashmir for standing with the people of Iran through their humanitarian support and heartfelt solidarity; this kindness will never be forgotten,” the embassy stated.

This strong cooperation is indicative of the historical ties between India and Iran, displaying mutual respect and understanding. The ambassador’s remarks reflect an ongoing commitment to fostering relations between the two nations, especially during crises. The exchanges of goodwill signify the importance of international solidarity in addressing humanitarian needs.

As the situation evolves, both nations continue to express appreciation for each other’s contributions, signifying a deep-rooted partnership characterised by mutual aid and cooperation amidst adversity. The efforts to facilitate aid shipments highlight ongoing diplomatic relations and shared humanitarian goals between India and Iran.
