Russia’s defence ministry has responded vigorously, claiming its forces intercepted and shot down 389 Ukrainian drones over Tatarstan, several other regions in Russia, and Crimea within the same night. This series of interceptions highlights the ongoing efforts by both nations to assert dominance in aerial warfare.

Impact of Attacks on Odesa and Western Ukraine

The city of Odesa, a vital port on the Black Sea, has faced escalating attacks, culminating in a “massive” strike that injured at least nine people overnight. According to Serhii Lysak, head of Odesa’s military administration, the coastline and port area have been subject to frequent drone and missile strikes, aiming to disrupt Ukrainian exports.

Previously on Saturday, Odesa experienced a missile strike that targeted a residential high-rise, resulting in two fatalities and injuring twenty-six others. The head of the region, Oleh Kiper, noted that the upper floors of the building were completely destroyed, illustrating the destructive impact of recent hostilities on civilian infrastructure.

Additional Russian strikes targeted western Ukraine overnight, but reports from the area did not indicate immediate civilian casualties. A drone strike near the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing with Poland reportedly set fire to a petrol station, further intensifying the ongoing conflict. The repercussions of these attacks have raised concerns about civilian safety and the humanitarian impact on both sides.
