Over 32,000 Security Personnel Deployed for UP Police SI Exam with 16 Lakh Candidates

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination commenced on Tuesday, accompanied by extensive security measures. More than 32,000 security personnel have been assigned throughout the state to ensure a smooth and secure examination process. Spanning two days and conducted in four shifts, the exam attracts a remarkable 15,75,000 candidates vying for 4,543 available positions. Authorities have implemented detailed monitoring systems alongside multi-layered security protocols to uphold the integrity of the recruitment process, preventing instances of cheating or paper leaks.

Monitoring and Oversight Measures

To guarantee effective supervision across Uttar Pradesh, the recruitment board has designated observers in all eight police zones. Notable assignments include Omkar Singh serving as the observer for the Lucknow Zone and Vijay Bhushan for the Varanasi Zone. Officers at the Additional Superintendent of Police or Deputy Superintendent of Police ranks will act as district observers, overseeing examination centres to ensure adherence to procedural standards. These arrangements aim to foster transparency and deterring any potential manipulation of the recruitment framework.

Comprehensive Security Deployments

The heightened security footprint for the examination encompasses the deployment of various law enforcement personnel, including 372 gazetted officers, 2,142 inspectors, 7,640 sub-inspectors, 8,479 head constables, 12,969 constables, and 749 home guards. In addition, the Provincial Armed Constabulary has been mobilised, providing four companies and two platoons to support local police efforts. Three platoons of this force have also been allocated to assist the Government Railway Police. Continuous walk-through inspections are being carried out at exam centres to ensure that security measures remain robust and effective.

Preventive Actions Against Cheating

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force is on high alert during the examination window to identify and combat any potential cheating networks or paper leak attempts. Authorities have reported an increase in fraudulent activities targeting candidates, notably individuals claiming to sell question papers through Telegram groups. In response, the Recruitment Board has lodged four First Information Reports with the Husainganj Police Station in Lucknow regarding these deceptive practices. Officials have cautioned candidates against such scams and affirmed that stringent legal actions will be pursued against any parties involved in cheating or fraud.

Significance of Recruitment Drive

The Sub-Inspector recruitment examination represents one of the largest police recruitment initiatives in Uttar Pradesh. With over 15 lakh candidates competing for a limited number of positions, the examination has garnered massive participation, prompting the authorities to establish comprehensive security and monitoring frameworks to ensure the fairness and credibility of the selection process.
