The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking incident has come to light from Balangir district in Odisha. Here, a woman from Kantabanji in Balangir district has accused her husband’s colleague, identified as Chintu Aggarwal, of raping her in their rented home. The survivor filed a written complaint on September 11. In the complaint, she stated that the assault occurred on August 13 between 7 and 8 pm while she was alone at home.

Accused Threatened Victim to Stay Silent

According to the complaint, Aggarwal forced himself on the woman and threatened to kill her husband if she disclosed the incident. The woman delayed reporting the crime out of fear of social stigma and threats against her family. The accused used to visit their home regularly due to his work association with her husband.

Police Register Case and Hunt for Accused

Kantabanji Sub-Divisional Police Officer Lakshmi Narayan Marandi confirmed that the accused is absconding. The police registered a case under sections 64(1) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and initiated a probe. Authorities have obtained the accused’s call detail records (CDR) to track his location, with plans to arrest him once found.

“We have sought the CDR (Call Detail Record) of the accused to identify the location of the accused and soon a team of cops will go to arrest him once his location is identified,” the Kantabanji SDPO informed.
