In a shocking case reported from a village in Kendrapara district, a 15-year-old girl has accused five individuals — including a member of her own family — of gang-raping her. Police confirmed on Tuesday that all five men have been detained and are currently under interrogation.

How did the Assault Take Place?

According to police officials, the teenage girl filed the complaint on Monday, August 11, at Rajnagar Police Station. She alleged that her relative had arrived at her home on Raksha Bandhan (August 9) and invited her to accompany him to a temple. Instead, he led her to a remote area where the assault took place.

“The relative of the minor told her to visit a temple in the nearby village, but had taken her to the crime site,” the investigating officer said, citing the FIR. Upon reaching the secluded location, the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her relative along with four other men who were already present at the scene.

Victim Was Threatened After Assault, Says Officer

The victim has claimed that the group threatened her with serious harm if she revealed the incident to anyone. “The accused threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the rape incident to her family,” the officer added.

Authorities suspect that the assault was not spontaneous but rather carefully planned. “It seemed that the crime was pre-planned and the relative of the girl was the main accused,” said a police official involved in the investigation.

All Accused Detained

Medical examinations for both the survivour and the accused are being conducted. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to collect evidence and question the suspects. “All five accused have been detained. They are being quizzed. The complainant and the accused persons will be medically examined. Investigation is underway,” the officer stated.

The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, as the involvement of a close relative and the deliberate planning of the crime add to the gravity of the allegations.
