Nitin Nabin and CM Dhami Engage with Youth in Haldwani on Employment and Entrepreneurship

The CSR Journal Magazine

Nitin Nabin, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, participated in a youth dialogue programme titled ‘Yuva Samvad’ held on September 10, 2026, in Haldwani. The event aimed to engage young individuals on diverse subjects, including their career paths, job prospects, and the potential for entrepreneurship.

During the session, attendees posed various questions concerning state and national development issues. The interactions highlighted the growing importance of technology, skill development, and sports within the community. Both leaders shared insights into government initiatives designed to enhance employment and self-employment avenues for the youth.

Emphasis on Government Schemes and Student Engagement

Nabin stressed the initiative under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to empower India’s youth by creating new opportunities through programs like Digital India, Startup India, and Skill India. He noted that these initiatives have not only expanded employment prospects for young people but have also encouraged them to become creators of jobs.

The BJP National President acknowledged the increasing role of youth in the evolving economy and technological landscape, with special mention of fields such as artificial intelligence, digital technology, and entrepreneurship. He contended that the talents present among the youth in Uttarakhand could be pivotal in advancing the state’s growth.

Nabin encouraged the young audience to perceive future challenges as opportunities and to actively contribute to building a prosperous nation. He highlighted the importance of social media as a tool for positive influence in society and urged youths to participate in politics for the nation’s development.

Government Initiatives to Support the Youth

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Dhami expressed his belief that the youthful demographic serves as a crucial asset for the nation, contributing new energy and innovative ideas. Since taking office on July 4, 2021, Dhami’s government has intensified its recruitment efforts in public sectors, with approximately 34,000 positions filled to date. Actions against recruitment fraud have reportedly included imprisonment for those involved in exam irregularities.

Dhami emphasised that the government’s focus extends beyond traditional employment in government services. Initiatives such as the Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana aim to foster self-employment and entrepreneurship, in addition to promoting skill development programmes, homestays, and the Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Yojana.

The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing developments in sports infrastructure across Uttarakhand, including the establishment of a sports university in Haldwani and a women’s sports college in Lohaghat. The success of Uttarakhand athletes—who received over 100 medals at the National Games—was noted as evidence of the state’s growing talent in sports.

Efforts are being made to establish new opportunities for the youth in sectors such as tourism, innovation, and science. An Investors Summit convened to generate new investment prospects has coincided with initiatives aimed at increasing industrial activities in hilly areas. Additionally, the government is providing free coaching to assist young individuals preparing for competitive exams.

CM Dhami concluded by stating that the combined talent and hard work of Uttarakhand’s youth are vital for the state’s overall development and success.
