Mumbai Father Beats, Burns 5-Year-Old Daughter with Cigarette for Going to Bed Late

A disturbing case of child abuse has come to light from the city of dreams, Mumbai. Here, a man has been booked for tying up, beating, and burning his five-year-old daughter. The man allegedly burned the minor child with a cigarette on her cheeks. All because the child refused to go to bed on time.

The incident came to light after a local resident received a distressing video of the abuse. The man immediately alerted the police about the incident.

Disturbing Footage Triggers Police Complaint

According To reports, on June 30, Abdul Hakim Qayum Sheikh (45), a zookeeper and longtime resident of Karbala Chal in Mankhurd, received a video from his wife. He received the video at around 2:45 PM. The video reportedly showed the accused, Rajeshram alias Bhagwan, assaulting his daughter Sanjana.

In the video, Rajeshram was seen tying 5-year-old Sanjana’s legs, beating her, and burning her cheek with a cigarette. Shocked by the brutality, Sheikh rushed to the Mankhurd Police Station. He showed the video to officers and demanded action.

Police Team Swiftly Responds to Allegations

Upon reviewing the video, a police team, including female officers, promptly accompanied Sheikh to the accused’s home in G Line, Karbala Chal. Although Rajeshram was not present at the residence, his children, Sanjana and her brother Ankush were found. Both kids were brought to the station for safety and further questioning.

Following the preliminary questioning, the minor girl told police that her father had beaten and burned her because she had not gone to sleep on time. The statement of the minor child confirmed the violence seen in the video. Meanwhile, the child is now under protection, and authorities are ensuring her safety and security.

Legal Action Initiated

Mankhurd police registered a case against Rajeshram based on the video evidence and the girl’s testimony. The case was registered under Sections 115(2) and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). This pertains to voluntarily causing harm using dangerous substances and cruelty against minors.

Accused on the Run, Search Underway

According to the police the accused, Rajeshram alias Bhagwan, is currently absconding. In order to apprehend him the police have launched a manhunt to locate him. Furthermore, the officials have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the child’s well-being and to bring the perpetrator to justice.
