Motorised Tricycle for Every Disabled Person? UP Govt’s Bold Promise to Divyangjans

In a major push towards inclusive development, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has reaffirmed its commitment to the empowerment of Divyangjans (persons with disabilities). Taking significant steps in this direction, the state has directed officials across all districts to ensure the free and timely distribution of motorised tricycles.

These motorcycles will be given to eligible beneficiaries under the centrally-supported ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances) Scheme.

Motorised Tricycle to every eligible

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government is ensuring that every eligible individual receives a motorised tricycle. Other assistive devices are also accepted to be distributed in a timely, transparent, and efficient manner. The initiative aims to help disabled people lead self-reliant and dignified lives.

For the financial year 2025-26, a budget allocation of Rs 37.40 crore has been made for artificial limbs and assistive devices, along with Rs 2 crore dedicated to the distribution of motorised tricycles.

Meeting at UP Vidhan Sabha

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Class Welfare and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Narendra Kashyap, held an important meeting on Tuesday. The meeting was held in his office at the Vidhan Sabha to review Divyangjan Welfare Schemes.

He instructed the Yogi government and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to prepare a coordinated action plan. The plan will be in collaboration with ALIMCO, so that the full benefit of the allocated budget reaches those in need.

ARJUN portal

He emphasied preparing an accurate and updated list of motorised tricycle beneficiaries on the ARJUN portal. He gave instructions to regularly update the portal to prevent duplication and to make the distribution process completely transparent. He also said that it must be ensured no eligible beneficiary is left out, and the list should be re-verified before being finalised.

Self-reliant Divyangjans

Narendra Kashyap further said that the goal of the Yogi government is to make Divyangjans self-reliant. For this, the distribution process should be made simple, fast, and transparent. He informed that recently, 100 motorised tricycles have been distributed to Divyangjans  in each Lok Sabha constituency. Now, the plan is to expand this initiative further and provide benefits to all in need based on demand and eligibility.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Subhash Chandra Sharma, MD Praveen Kumar, General Manager Vivek Dwivedi (ALIMCO), Assistant Manager Pankaj Dwivedi, departmental officers, and Government of India officials through video conferencing.
