A harrowing case has emerged from Rodkali village in Muzaffarnagar district, where a young mother has been arrested for allegedly murdering her two children with the assistance of her lover. Police say the woman, 24-year-old Muskan, considered her children to be an obstacle in her illicit relationship and plotted their deaths in order to begin a new life with her partner, Junaid.
The accused woman reportedly gave her children poisoned food—initially said to be tea and biscuits, later reported as rasgullas—leading to their untimely deaths. The victims have been identified as five-year-old Arhan and one-year-old Enaya. Their bodies were found under suspicious circumstances in their home on Thursday, prompting an investigation.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar told reporters, “Investigation revealed the mother’s involvement in the deaths, and she was taken into custody. During interrogation, she confessed to the crime.” According to authorities, Muskan admitted that she saw her children as a barrier to starting over with Junaid, and thus decided to poison them.
Local Residents in Shock
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, leaving residents in disbelief over the brutal nature of the crime. “She gave them poison, which caused their death,” SSP Kumar added, confirming that the act was premeditated and not an impulsive decision.
Muskan’s husband, Waseem, is currently employed in Chandigarh and was not present at the time of the incident. During his absence, Muskan is believed to have developed a romantic relationship with Junaid. Police sources say the two were planning to elope, and Junaid had reportedly refused to accept the children into their new life together. This rejection allegedly motivated the gruesome act.
While Muskan is now in custody, her alleged accomplice, Junaid, is absconding. Law enforcement has launched a search operation to locate him and bring him to justice. Authorities emphasised that the couple had allegedly planned a “honeymoon” trip following the children’s deaths.
The tragic deaths of Arhan and Enaya have raised serious concerns about familial violence and mental health, with officials urging the public to remain alert and report any signs of domestic instability or abuse.
