Maulana Razvi Appeals to PM Modi for Peaceful Resolution of Israel-Iran Tensions

The CSR Journal Magazine

In Bareilly, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use India’s diplomatic ties to help reduce tensions between Israel, Iran, and the United States. Speaking at a public event, Razvi emphasised that conflict cannot be resolved through war and urged the Indian government to facilitate dialogue among the nations involved.

Razvi highlighted India’s positive relations with all three countries and said that these relationships could be leveraged to seek a peaceful solution. “This war is not the solution to any issue,” he stated, advocating negotiation and diplomacy over military action. He also praised Iran’s stance in recent events, asserting that Tehran has challenged the dominance of global powers and calling on Modi to intervene and help “stop this war.”

Rising Regional Tensions

The cleric’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following reports that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in a joint U.S.–Israel military operation. Iranian state media confirmed Khamenei’s death and the government declared a 40-day national mourning period, with mourning rituals and lowered flags across the nation.

Khamenei, who had led Iran since 1989, was a central figure in shaping the country’s foreign policy, especially in opposition to Western influence and in support of allied movements across the region. His death has triggered a diplomatic and political upsurge, with Tehran increasing security measures in major cities, particularly around the capital, Tehran, to maintain public order during the mourning period.

Focus Turns to Iran’s Leadership Transition

As Iran mourns its late leader, speculation over his successor has intensified. Iranian authorities are closely monitoring developments following his passing, with senior officials and commentators debating how the next Supreme Leader might shape the nation’s domestic and foreign policies. Security has been tightened amid the sensitive transition period to prevent unrest.

Calls for Peace Amid Global Anxiety

Razvi’s appeal to the Indian prime minister reflects broader anxieties about a potential escalation of hostilities that could have wide-ranging effects across the Middle East and beyond.

His message resonates with calls from various corners for diplomatic engagement to prevent further violence. Observers note that India’s longstanding diplomatic relations with both Western and Middle Eastern powers position it uniquely to contribute to de-escalation efforts.
