The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking incident has come to light in Maharashtra’s Latur district. This comes after the charred body of a young man was found inside a completely burnt car late Saturday night. Police suspect the case to be one of murder. However, the exact circumstances behind the crime are still under investigation.

Victim Identified as ICICI Bank Recovery Agent

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Gopinath Chavan (35), a resident of Ausa Tanda, who worked as a recovery agent with ICICI Bank. According to preliminary findings, Chavan was allegedly tied up, stuffed inside a sack, placed in his own car. The vehicle was then set on fire by unidentified assailants.

Police Alerted After Emergency Call

Police received a call on the emergency helpline Dial 112 around 11.30 pm on Saturday, reporting a car engulfed in flames on the Ausa–Vanwada Road. A team from the Ausa police station rushed to the spot and informed the fire brigade, which managed to douse the flames after considerable effort.

Once the fire was extinguished, police discovered a body inside the vehicle, burnt beyond recognition. Medical officers were called to the scene, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. The victim was later identified by family members with the help of personal belongings, including a ring. Officials said a DNA test would be conducted to officially confirm the identity.

Family Alleges Murder, Seeks Justice

Family members and acquaintances told police that they had been trying to contact Ganesh throughout Sunday, but his phone remained switched off. Concern grew when they later learned about the burnt car and recovered body. Alleging foul play, the family has demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the crime.

“We received a call on Dial 112 at around 12:30 am. The caller reported that a car was on fire on Vanavada Road. Our staff and officers arrived at the scene. They then informed the fire department, which extinguished the fire. A burnt body was found inside the car. It was completely charred. We called medical officers to the scene. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and further investigation is underway,” an official said.

Investigation Underway

Police have currently registered an accidental death report and stated that the cause and motive behind the incident will become clear only after a detailed investigation. Officials are examining all possible angles, including professional rivalry and personal enmity, as the brutal killing has sent shockwaves across the region.
