LPG Cylinder Explosion in Bettiah Injures 11, Including Women and Child

On Friday afternoon, an LPG cylinder explosion at a meat shop in Bettiah, Bihar, resulted in serious burn injuries to at least eleven individuals. The incident took place around 12:30 PM in a bustling market near a local bank, inducing widespread panic among shoppers and passersby. Eyewitness accounts describe the chaotic scene as flames erupted from the shop, injuring the shopkeeper, several customers, and bystanders.

Injuries Reported and Medical Response Initiated

Among the injured, two women and a six-year-old girl have been reported in critical condition. Local residents and police officers promptly responded to the emergency, assisting with rescue efforts. The injured were transported to the nearest Community Health Center (CHC) for initial treatment before being referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bettiah for advanced care due to the severity of their injuries.

Identification of Victims and Medical Care

The injured individuals have been identified as Govind Rai, Vinay Kumar Shukla, Gulab Patel, Premnath Kumar, Baby Kumari, Sita Devi, and the six-year-old girl, among others. Dr. Roshan Kumar, the In-charge Medical Officer, confirmed that all victims received preliminary care at the CHC before being referred to the hospital for further treatment. Medical staff at the GMCH are closely monitoring the conditions of the victims.

Authorities Respond and Investigate Incident

In the wake of the explosion, senior administrative and police officials visited the hospital to review the situation and communicate with the families of the injured. Circle Officer Nitesh Kumar Seth and Station House Officer Ramesh Kumar Sharma were present at the medical facility, emphasizing the importance of investigating the explosion’s cause. CO Seth reiterated that the incident occurred at an egg and meat shop and confirmed the total number of injuries resulting from the blast.

Call for Increased Safety Compliance

Following the incident, authorities have directed business owners to strictly utilize commercial gas cylinders in their establishments and adhere to established safety standards. There is a growing concern regarding the potential hazards associated with improper LPG usage, especially in populated market areas. Local administration officials underscored the necessity for robust enforcement of safety regulations to prevent future occurrences of such incidents.
