Self-styled film critic and former actor Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly firing multiple gunshots at a residential building in Oshiwara where writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra lives. The incident took place on January 18, and Khan was taken into custody on Friday night and formally arrested on Saturday after sustained questioning.
According to police officials, KRK admitted during interrogation that he fired four rounds from his licensed firearm. The weapon used in the incident has since been recovered from his residence. No clear motive behind the firing has emerged so far, and police say the investigation is still ongoing.
In his statement to the authorities, Khan claimed that he did not intend to harm anyone. He told investigators that he was cleaning his gun and fired a few rounds merely to check whether it was functioning properly. “I was aiming at the mangrove forest in front of my house. I believed it was a safe zone to test the weapon,” Khan reportedly said. He further claimed that strong winds caused the bullets to travel beyond the intended direction and hit a residential building nearby.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, officials said the act caused panic among residents after bullets struck different floors of the building.
