Kolkata Knight Riders Sign Blessing Muzarabani as Zimbabwe Pace Star for IPL 2026

The CSR Journal Magazine

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have officially announced the signing of Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The franchise revealed this development on March 13, highlighting Muzarabani’s stature as one of Zimbabwe’s foremost pace bowlers in T20 cricket.

Muzarabani’s Experience and Performance

Muzarabani, who stands at 6 feet 8 inches, is recognized for his impressive height, enabling him to produce steep bounce and deliver crucial breakthroughs during matches. With a remarkable record of over 90 wickets in more than 80 T20 Internationals, he maintains an average close to 21, with his best performance recorded as 3 for 8. His proficiency was further showcased during the recently held T20 World Cup 2026, where he shared the title of joint second-highest wicket-taker, claiming 13 wickets.

Background and Transition to KKR

Muzarabani is slated to arrive in Kolkata on Tuesday and is expected to bolster KKR’s bowling lineup as they prepare for their opening match against the Mumbai Indians on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, he is the only cricketer from Zimbabwe participating in this year’s IPL. Previously, he was part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad in 2025 although he did not make any appearances. RCB, interestingly, secured their first IPL title during the same season.

Reasons for Leaving PSL

At the age of 29, Muzarabani opted out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to focus on his role in the IPL this year. His inclusion in the KKR team comes as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, a player from Bangladesh, who was released in accordance with the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) guidelines.
