The CSR Journal Magazine

A 27-year-old postgraduate medical student was found dead inside a hotel room in Hyderabad’s Miyapur area on Friday, October 2, with police registering a murder case following a complaint from her father. The deceased has been identified as Komati Srijana, a native of Telangana’s Sangareddy district.

Srijana was pursuing postgraduate studies in paediatrics at a medical college in Hanamkonda district. Police said her family approached them after they were unable to contact her, following which her mobile phone location was traced to a hotel in Miyapur.

Body Found In Hotel Room

Police reached the hotel and found Srijana’s body on the bed inside one of the rooms. According to officials, the body was in a decomposed condition when it was recovered.

Preliminary examination did not reveal any obvious external injury marks, police said. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Srijana’s father, K Bhumayya, subsequently lodged a complaint alleging that his daughter had been murdered. Based on the complaint, Hyderabad police registered a case of murder and began investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

Friend Left Hotel, Remains Untraceable

According to police, Srijana had travelled to Hyderabad on Wednesday, September 30, after reportedly being called by a male friend to discuss the return of a gold chain.

An official cited by PTI said Srijana met the man at the hotel on the same day. Police said the man checked out of the hotel on Thursday, October 1, and has since remained untraceable.

Investigators are now searching for the man and are examining CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding areas. Other available evidence is also being analysed to establish what happened inside the hotel room and the sequence of events leading to Srijana’s death.

Police Probe Relationship And Sequence Of Events

Police said Srijana had known the man since her MBBS days, when she was studying in Mahabubnagar district. Investigators are looking into their association as part of the probe.

The post-mortem examination is expected to provide further information about the cause of death, while investigators are awaiting additional evidence from CCTV footage and other forensic material.

Police are continuing efforts to trace the man who was last seen with Srijana and determine his role, if any, in the circumstances surrounding her death.
