In a heartfelt post sharing a picture of Rani Mukerji and Kajol, Manish Malhotra expressed nostalgia, writing, “From Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to now” alongside heart emojis. The longstanding bond between Karan Johar and Manish Malhotra spans over three decades, beginning as a professional relationship in 1993. According to Manish, Sridevi had encouraged him to join the film, and it was during this period that he frequently contacted Yash Johar with queries, only to find Karan fielding his calls. He recalled Karan’s playful comment about his lack of greeting, which led to their first conversation that ultimately blossomed into a meaningful friendship. They later enjoyed a dinner together that marked the start of their close association.

Manish noted the rarity of maintaining a friendship coupled with a professional dynamic over many years. He acknowledged that few individuals would feel at ease expressing critical feedback to Karan Johar, yet their relationship is grounded in mutual honesty. On the professional front, Karan Johar revealed plans to adapt his 2006 film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna into a long-form series, aiming to provide greater depth and development for both the narrative and characters than would be possible in a feature film format. He also announced the return of Koffee with Karan for its ninth season later this year, signalling continued interest in the iconic talk show.

Additionally, Karan is reportedly preparing to direct his eighth film, which is expected to be a large-scale family drama produced by Dharma Productions.
