The CSR Journal Magazine

Karan Johar is reportedly evaluating the revival of his acclaimed chat show Koffee With Karan for a ninth season. As per recent updates, the new instalment is likely to introduce alterations to its format to better cater to audience tastes. If negotiations proceed smoothly, Season 9 is expected to be available for streaming on JioHotstar towards the end of 2025. However, the finalisation of the contractual agreement for this new season remains pending.

According to sources from MidDay, upcoming episodes may consist of shorter segments that zero in on contemporary themes. Additionally, the show intends to broaden its guest list, which could include not just Bollywood personalities but also figures from the South Indian film industry, OTT platforms, and digital content creators. Previous seasons have seen appearances by South Indian stars, indicating a potential trend in guest diversity.

Karan Johar previously expressed discontent regarding the eighth season’s rapid-fire segment, describing it as “the most boring rapid fire in the history of the show.” He hinted that Season 9 would adopt a “new syntax,” suggesting a fresh approach to the show’s dynamic.

This compilation included iconic highlights such as Ajay Devgn’s humorous remarks about Karan’s penchant for titles beginning with the letter ‘K’, as well as Alia Bhatt’s amusing burp on national television. The video also featured Sonam Kapoor’s cheeky reference to Brahmastra and Kiara Advani’s imitation of Shahid Kapoor’s memorable scream from Kabir Singh.

A Brief History of Koffee With Karan

Koffee With Karan first made its television debut in 2004, quickly establishing itself as a cornerstone of celebrity interviews in India. The show experienced its longest interval between seasons from 2018 to 2022, during which it did not air for four years. Originally broadcast on Star World, it transitioned to Disney Hotstar after 2022, which has since rebranded as JioHotstar.

On the professional front, Karan Johar is preparing for his eighth film, which is described as a large-scale family drama produced under the banner of Dharma Productions. The film is anticipated to release in 2026, marking an exciting year ahead for the filmmaker.
