Jaipur Woman, Inspired by Crime Show CID, Kills Husband With Lover’s Help

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a chilling murder case reminiscent of a TV crime thriller, Jaipur Police have arrested a woman, her lover, and his friend for the murder of her husband. The trio allegedly plotted the crime after watching crime shows like CID and web series to avoid detection.

The victim, 35-year-old Manoj Kumar Raigar, was found earlier this month lying in a pool of blood near a football ground in Jaipur. His throat had been slit with a sharp object. With no eyewitnesses or CCTV footage from the crime spot, police initially struggled to gather leads.

Investigation Breakthrough from CCTV Clue

A breakthrough came when police spotted Manoj in a CCTV clip riding in an e-rickshaw with another person. This lead helped investigators narrow down their suspects. Upon further probe using phone call records and technical surveillance, suspicion fell on Manoj’s wife Santosh, her lover Rishi Srivastava, and his friend Mohit Sharma.

Murder Motivated by Affair and Abuse Claims

According to police, Santosh was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with Rishi. She claimed that her husband frequently assaulted her and was suspicious of her relationship. During interrogation, she confessed to planning the murder and revealed she had watched crime dramas like CID for ideas.

Crime Meticulously Planned with New SIM Cards

To avoid detection, the three accused used new SIM cards solely for communicating with each other. As per the plan, they took Manoj in an e-rickshaw to a deserted location, slit his throat, and dumped the body near the football ground. Forensic teams collected evidence, and the trio has confessed to the crime. They are now in police remand.

In a separate incident in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, police arrested a woman, Laxmi Devi, and her lover Jitendra Sharma for killing her husband and stuffing his body in a plastic tank. The duo went absconding after the murder but were later found hiding at a brick kiln.
