iQOO has officially introduced its latest flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16, in China. The device features a Samsung M16 AMOLED display and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. With a significant focus on performance and user experience, the device features a robust 8,400mAh battery that supports 100W fast charging.

The iQOO 16 boasts a 6.85-inch 2K Samsung M16 LTPO AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of 165Hz. In High Brightness Mode (HBM), the screen reaches up to 2,800 nits and an impressive peak of 10,000 nits. This offers a vibrant visual display for multimedia content and gaming.

Under the hood, the smartphone utilises a 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, an Adreno 850 GPU, and iQOO’s proprietary Q4 gaming chip. Users can opt for configurations with LPDDR5X Ultra or LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM, alongside UFS 4.1 storage. The device supports up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. According to iQOO, the smartphone reportedly obtains around 5.57 million points in AnTuTu benchmarks.

Camera and Battery Features

The iQOO 16 is designed with photography in mind, featuring a triple rear camera setup. This includes a 50-megapixel primary camera equipped with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). Supplementing this is a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera that offers 3x optical zoom and is also fitted with OIS. The telephoto lens utilises a Sony sensor for enhanced imaging capabilities.

On the front, the device houses a 32-megapixel camera tailored for selfies and video calls. The highlighted battery capacity of 8,400mAh is complemented by support for 100W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging, allowing for quick power-ups. A unique feature, known as the direct-drive power supply, enables the device to bypass the battery during intensive gaming sessions, enhancing performance.

The iQOO 16 operates on OriginOS 7, which is based on Android 17. Noteworthy functionalities include Atomic Workbench that supports multitasking by permitting users to operate up to five applications on a single screen. Additional features include a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, an infrared sensor, stereo speakers, and Hi-Fi audio capabilities. The smartphone is also rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance.

Pricing and Availability in China

The iQOO 16 has a starting price of CNY 5,999, which equates to approximately Rs 85,815, for the variant that includes 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is priced at CNY 6,799 (around Rs 97,260), while the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant retails for CNY 7,499 (approximately Rs 1.07 lakh). The top-tier model, featuring 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, is offered at CNY 8,499 (around Rs 1.22 lakh).

The smartphone is now available for purchase in China. However, iQOO has yet to announce any plans regarding the launch of the device in the Indian market, similar to the previous iQOO 15 model.

The anticipation around the iQOO 16 underscores the company’s commitment to delivering high-performance smartphones in line with current technological advancements.
