A young woman was being consistently blackmailed by her ex-boyfriend in Kolkata, who demanded money from her for not leaking her intimate photographs online. The young woman’s marriage was fixed in another family, which later broke due to the ex-boyfriend’s interference. The helpless girl finally reached out to the police seeking help. The accused youth was arrested by Bidhannagar Cyber ​​Crime Police Station. The arrested youth Uday is a resident of Murshidabad.

According to police, the young woman, a resident of Lake Town had a love affair with the young man for about five years before her marriage. During that relationship, they met at several places. It is alleged that the young man had kept intimate photos of the two on his mobile phone. Later, the couple broke up. The young woman was also married to another person. It is alleged that the accused youth had sent intimate photos of the woman to her would be in-laws’ house, following which her marriage proposal was discarded.

Not only that, it is alleged that later, the ex-boyfriend started calling and threatening the young woman and demanded money. He allegedly blackmailed her saying he would upload their intimate photos on social media if when the demanded amount of money was not given.

Fed up of constant blackmailing, the girl filed a written complaint at the Bidhannagar Cyber ​​Crime Police Station. The police arrested the accused from Murshidabad. The arrested person was produced before the Bidhannagar Subdistrict Court on Friday, October, 10. Police sources said that the arrested person will be taken into custody and interrogated.

Youth arrested for cyber fraud in West Bengal’s Murshidabad

A youth named Manirul Islam was recently arrested on charges of being involved in cyber fraud in West Bengal’s Murshidabad. A large amount of cash and several bank ATM cards were recovered from the accused by Hariharpara police station in Murshidabad, which conducted a raid and arrested him. A case has been registered at the Murshidabad Cyber Police Station.

Complaints of cyber fraud have been received from different places in Murshidabad district lately. Residents have allegedly lost a lot of money to fraudsters. Upon receiving information from secret sources, the Hariharpara police conducted a raid on Tuesday night.

Investigators raided the house of Abdul Majit Mandal, a resident of Dharampur, Hariharpara. His 29-year-old son Monirul Islam was also arrested. A total of 27 ATM cards were recovered during a raid in his house. The mobile phone SIM cards were also seized by police which were acquired using names and IDs of different people. A total of Rs 90,000 in cash was recovered from the house.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Murshidabad district, Rashpreet Singh, said that the arrested person is involved in a cyber-fraud gang. The accused used to withdraw money from ATMs using multiple ATM cards linked to different accounts. Several other people are involved in the incident. The initial assumption of the police is that a big gang is operating in the area. The investigators are trying to get more information by questioning the arrested person. The arrested person was produced before the Berhampur court on Wednesday (October 1).
