India’s successful run in shooting continued as the team of Rudrankksh Patil, Parth Mane, and Himanshu Dhillon claimed a silver medal in the men’s 10 m air rifle team event at the Asian Games 2026 held in Aichi-Nagoya on September 21. The Indian team achieved a total score of 1890.1, which was notably lower than the gold medal score of 1899.0 by China. South Korea secured the bronze medal with a score of 1841.4.

Team Performance and Rankings

This silver medal marks India’s third medal at the ongoing Asian Games, with all three instances being silvers awarded in shooting events. In the individual qualifying round that was conducted simultaneously with the team event, Rudrankksh finished in third position with a score of 631.8. Himanshu placed seventh with a total of 630.0, while Parth concluded his qualification in eleventh place with 628.3. Rudrankksh and Himanshu progressed to the men’s individual final scheduled later on.

The competition format saw the qualifying round double as a final for the team event. Rudrankksh began his series with an initial score of 104.2 in the first series, gradually improving through subsequent rounds, ultimately achieving 631.8 by the conclusion of the sixth series. His consistent performance was crucial for the team’s overall score.

Parth Mane also exhibited steady progress throughout his series, starting with a score of 104.5. He improved his performance in each round, accumulating a final score of 628.3. Meanwhile, Himanshu Dhillon encountered a challenging start, posting 105.3 in the first series but managed to enhance his scores in the following series, finishing with 630.0 after six rounds.

Earlier Achievements in Women’s Events

On the preceding day, India laid a solid groundwork in the shooting events, particularly with the women’s 10 m air rifle competition. Elavenil Valarivan clinched a silver medal in the individual final, marking a successful outing for Indian shooters. Furthermore, the trio of Elavenil, Sonam Uttam Maskar, and Vidarsa Kochalumkal Vinod joined forces to garner another silver in the team event, showcasing India’s competitiveness in shooting sports.

The Indian contingent’s performance thus far has underscored the strength and prowess of its shooters in various events at these Asian Games. The consistent delivery of medals across the competitions highlights the depth of talent present in the sport within the country.
